Knock Shrine, Ireland’s National Marina Shrine, is the place where, since the Apparition on the 21st of August 1879, a countless number of pilgrims and visitors have been welcomed to pray and share their devotion to the Virgin Mary. The story of Knock began when Our Lady appeared at the gable of the church in the company of St. Joseph and St. John the Evangelist. Fifteen local people gave their testimonies to an official Commission of Enquiry and their accounts were found to be trustworthy and satisfactory, which gave start to the history of Knock as a place of prayer and devotion to Our Lady.
